Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the exciting city of New Orleans for the 2019 Annual Conference of the American Academy of Oral Medicine! This year’s conference theme is Oral Medicine at the Crossroads of Interdisciplinary Healthcare, which highlights innovative basic, translational and clinical information that will deeply resonate with attendees. I offer a special welcome to first-time conference attendees and new members of AAOM.

The Scientific Sessions Subcommittee, led by Dr. Arwa Farag and Dr. Alessandro Villa, has created a stimulating program with broad appeal. There are a variety of topics and presentation formats that will suit all learning styles. Don’t miss the Integrating Oral & Medical Health Care: Highlights in the Economic Perspective lecture to be delivered by Dr. Bruce Donoff, Dean of the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and Walter C. Guralnick Distinguished Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Another highly anticipated lecture is Personalized/Precision Medicine: Implications for Oral Medicine to be delivered by Professor Camile S. Farah, Dean, and Head of The University of Western Australia Dental School. The Abstract Committee, led by Dr. Ken Ikeda and Dr. Bhavik Desai, has selected many abstracts for oral and poster presentation that showcase cutting-edge original investigations and challenging clinical case reports.

New Orleans is a lively and energetic city, brimming with possibilities. From strolling through Jackson Square to enjoying beignets at Café Du Monde to taking in a traditional jazz performance at Preservation Hall to experiencing Bourbon Street, New Orleans offers something for everyone. I encourage all attendees to take advantage of all this unique city has to offer!

The AAOM Annual Conference is a fantastic opportunity for clinicians, educators and researchers from all corners of the globe to meet, exchange ideas and forge new collaborations. Please take a moment to thank the National Meeting Committee Chairs, Dr. Craig Hatch and Dr. Michaell Huber, and our management team, led by our Executive Director, Ms. Michele Reeder, for all their hard work to organize this spectacular conference.

I look forward to welcoming you to the 2019 AAOM Annual Conference!

Warmest Regards,
