Dennis Paul, PhD

Dr. Paul earned his Masters and PhD degrees at the University of British Columbia, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.  He joined the faculty of the LSU Health Sciences Center Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics in 1990 and rose to the rank of Professor.  More than 40 years, he has studied the mechanisms of pain and analgesia, opioid receptor pharmacology, inflammation and sodium channels, and novel analgesic development. He has also developed methods to assess drug-drug interactions. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles and chapters and has 4 patents on novel analgesics and a method to selectively kill cancer cells.  Dr. Paul is a founding member and Chief Science Officer for Oleander Medical Technologies, a company established to develop his treatment for metastatic cancer.
